Description
The Globe Inn is an 18th-century inn that has undergone modifications in the 19th century. It is constructed from local lias stone that has been cut and squared, with painted ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with clay pantiles and features stepped coped gables, along with a parapet on the main block and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high and consists of six bays, with bays three, four, and five forming the main part of the structure.
Bay one features a tall, three-centred archway with a 20-pane sash window above in a plain opening. Bay two has a 16-pane sash window at the bottom and a painted and signwritten blind panel above it. The main block includes 24-pane sash windows in plain openings. In bay four, there are double boarded doors set in a painted stone surround, which is decorated with simplified classical pilasters and an entablature. Bay six has a three-centre archway with an impost and keystone framing double boarded doors, above which is a double 2-pane sash window. There are hanging signs at the upper level between bays two and three, and between bays four and five. The interior has not been seen.
