Description
The Ashby chest tomb, located 10 metres south of the south door of the Church of St Leonard, is an early 19th-century structure made of ashlar. It features corner balusters and has metal plaques on each side, as well as one on the west end, which bear inscriptions. The earliest inscription is dedicated to Robert Ashby, dated 1803, with additional memorials for his family. The tomb is topped with a flat moulded capping and is surrounded by a railed enclosure, with each upright adorned with a foliate head.
