Description

This is a 17th-century chest tomb located in the churchyard about 23 metres west-northwest of the west tower of the Church of Saint Mary. It is made of Doulting stone, with its base buried. The tomb features plain sides and flanks, a deep top moulding between plain corner pilasters, and lozenge ornamentation that survives on the north side. It has a thick cornice moulding on the flat top. The north inscription is mostly lost, but it may date from 1603.
