Description

BRUTON CP STATION ROAD (West side) ST6834NW 8/184 Unknown Chest Tomb, in churchyard about 12 metres South West of the West Tower, Church of Saint Mary GV II

Chest Tomb. C17. Doulting stone. Base sunken; semi-circular arched keystoned panels, one each end and two each flank; deep roll mould then very heavy and thick hipped top. Inscriptions lost, but a similar chest tomb panel now incorporated in South boundary wall is dated 1637.
