Description
This building is a coach-house, now used as a garage and stabling, located approximately 18 metres north of Newsham Grange. It dates from the early to mid-19th century and is constructed of rubble with dressed stone and a stone slate roof. The structure has one and two storeys and features a layout of two, one, and two bays. The central bay is two storeys high and gabled.
In the first, third, and fifth bays, there are round-arched coach openings made of dressed stone, which have herringbone tooling and draughted margins. The outer openings have leaved board doors, while the central opening includes a recessed lobby with three stable doors. Round-arched windows are present in the second and fourth bays, as well as in the first floor of the central bay, which is topped by a pigeoncote with holes and ledges. There are gable stacks at both the front and rear, and the ends of iron tie bars are visible at the corners of the central bay. This building is included for its group value.
