Description
Cragg House is a house built in 1673, with alterations and additions from the 18th century. It is constructed from rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has a single range of two storeys. The main facade consists of two bays, with a string course that acts as a drip mould over the ground floor windows. These windows are double chamfered but have modern glazing; the right-hand window includes a 19th-century unmoulded mullion. The first-floor windows are similar but have been raised along with the wall. There are two chimneys, one of which may have had a fire window on the ground floor to the right. Above this is a single round-headed light. The string course rises over a shield inscribed with "WS 1673." To the right, there is an addition marked with "IW 1791" scratched on the lintel. At the rear of the main block, there is a double chamfered window that is missing its mullion. Inside, the former gable entrance features chamfered jambs, exposed beams, and the bressumer of the right-hand fireplace, which has been altered. The roof has a heavy tie beam construction.
