Description

Croft Cottage, originally part of Croft Farmhouse, is a 17th or early 18th century farmhouse with an outshut built in 1779. The farmhouse is constructed of rendered rubble with a modern stone slate roof. Originally a single range comprising farmhouse and barn, it now functions as a separate cottage. The front facade has two bays, featuring double-chamfered mullion windows to both storeys. Ground floor windows are 4 and 5 lights, with hoodmoulds. First floor windows are 4 and 3 lights. A central doorway has a triangular head and chamfered surround. Two chimneys are present. The left-hand gable end has a double-chamfered mullion window of 2 lights to the ground floor, and two similar windows to the first floor, with renewed stonework. At the rear, a large outshut to the farmhouse has a plain doorway above which is a plaque inscribed "EE 1779", now painted.
