Description
One Oak is a building with origins in the 18th century that was refronted in the mid to late 19th century. It stands two storeys tall, constructed in ashlar with coursed rubble on the sides. The building features coped gable ends with kneelers and a moulded stone eaves cornice supported by brackets, showcasing a Tudor style.
The façade includes two canted stone bays, each two storeys high, topped with crenellated parapets. The centre of the building has a gabled section above a shield, a moulded cornice, and a window arrangement of 2-6-2 lights. The central window is adorned with mullion and transom lights above a four-centred doorway that has a rectangular drip mould and a fanlight with carved lights. Access is provided by steps leading up to a carved door, and the corners of the building are accentuated with rusticated quoins.
One Oak is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 3, The Horse Shoe Public House, Nos 5 to 13, Ivyleigh, and No 15, as well as Nos 16 to 22, with Nos 1 to 3 and Nos 5 and 6 being noted as buildings of local interest.
