Description

Haverland Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of brick and features a pantile roof with raised coped brick gables and two gable stacks. The building has a brick plinth and a moulded brick band at the first floor level.

The exterior is two storeys high. The main front originally had five windows but now has three. There is a central doorway with a four-panel door, flanked by two broad mid-19th century six-pane sash windows. Above the doorway is a single central four-pane sash, with blocked openings on either side and additional four-pane sashes beyond. The left side of the building has a blank wall with a blocked window on the first floor and a small window in the garret. The rear facade shows signs of former additions that have since been removed, featuring an off-centre doorway with a four-panel door, a small sliding sash window to the left, and a larger 20th-century cross casement to the right. Above this doorway are two two-light casement windows.

Inside, the farmhouse retains original spine beams in the ground floor rooms, as well as an original dog-leg staircase with square newels, a moulded handrail, and turned balusters, although some balusters are missing. The pegged roof includes staggered purlins and simple collar trusses, along with original stud partitions.
