Description
Low Croft is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the early 18th century but with earlier origins. It has been raised and altered over time. The front is made of coursed squared sandstone, while the sides and rear are constructed from coursed sandstone rubble. The roof is covered with pantiles and features brick stacks. The building has a two-cell direct-entry plan with an outshut and is two storeys high with a two-window front.
The entrance, located left of centre, consists of a six-panel door beneath a divided overlight, accessed by stone steps. To the left of the door is an uneven 18-pane sash window, and to the right is a three-light small pane horizontal sliding sash window. There is also a six-pane fixed-light firewindow at the far right end. On the first floor, there are two two-light small-pane horizontal sliding sash windows. All openings have thin timber lintels.
On the left gable wall, there is a two-light large-pane horizontal sliding sash window beneath a heavy timber lintel. The gable is coped, with a replacement kneeler on the left side, and there is a single stack at the left end.
