Description

Rose Cottage and the attached outbuildings are a farmhouse and farm buildings that have been converted into a house and associated structures. They date from the early to mid-18th century. The house is built of squared sandstone with irregular quoins, while the outbuildings are made of coursed sandstone rubble. The roof is covered with pantiles and features rebuilt brick stacks.

The house has a gable end facing the street and is two stories high with a two-window front. To the left, there is a two-story range of outbuildings with five bays. The central entrance to the house has a 20th-century board door, flanked by two-light casement windows. On the first floor, there are two small-pane casements, all with stone sills and heavy lintels over the ground floor openings.

The outbuildings feature a square arched cart opening in the center and a similar opening to the right, with a square pitching window above. There is a plank stable door at the far left, along with pitching doors to the left and right of the center. Heavy lintels are present over the stable door and central opening, while the end right opening has a timber lintel. All ground floor openings are quoined, and the house has end stacks.
