Description
No. 35 Church Street is a house dating from the early 18th century, which was raised and remodelled in the 19th century. The front is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, set on a stone plinth, while the sides are dressed limestone and the rear is a mix of brick and limestone. The roof is covered with pantiles, and there are brick and rendered stacks. The house has a central staircase plan, is one and a half rooms deep, and features a rear access passage on the left. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has three first-floor windows. The building has quoins and a four-panel door with an overlight located to the right of centre. There is a rear passage doorway at the left end, which is also under a divided overlight. The windows throughout are four-pane sashes with stone sills, and the window opening above the entrance door is blocked with a re-set datestone that reads 'A J F 1705'. All ground and first-floor openings have wedge lintels with grooved keystones, and the ground floor windows feature decorative ironwork on the sills. The house has stacks at the centre and at the right end.
