Description
The Foords Hotel is a public house built around 1815. It features whitewashed brick in Flemish bond on a stone plinth, with ashlar dressings and a slate roof. The building has a central stairhall plan, is one and a half rooms deep, and includes a rear service wing. It stands three stories high with a symmetrical three-window front. The central entrance consists of a recessed six-panel double door with panelled reveals and a rectangular grooved panel above. The door is framed by a projecting Doric doorcase with attached fluted columns, an entablature, and a cornice. The ground floor has tripartite sash windows, while above the doorway is a two-storey canted bay, flanked by sash windows on both the first and second floors. All windows feature glazing bars on the upper sashes, and the first-floor windows have wedge lintels with raised keyblocks. The building is topped with a modillion eaves cornice and has end stacks.
