Description

Gates and gate-piers to Northcliffe House were built in 1893 by W Brierley for Miss E Clarke. The structure features sandstone piers and wrought iron gates. The piers are square in shape and approximately 3½ metres high, each adorned with a recessed, shaped panel that includes a blank cartouche. A heavy cornice steps up to a ball and pedestal finial. The carriage gates are located between the piers on the right, while a foot gate to the left is set beneath a rounded arch that has the house name painted on the tympanum.
