Description
Nos 2 and 3 Market Place are a pair of three-storey buildings dating from the 18th century. The frontage of No 3 is constructed in rough ashlar and is now part of the Castle Tavern, while it has been rough rendered. Both buildings feature four windows with plain stone surrounds and a Welsh slate roof. No 2 includes a wooden eaves cornice and a stone-coped gable end with kneelers, along with a modern shop front. No 3 has rusticated quoins, a modern three-light window, a band at the first-floor cills, and a wooden eaves cornice. There is a central segmental-headed arch that provides entry to the former Wesleyan Chapel. Nos 1 to 5 Market Place and the premises occupied by D C Clark form a group.
