Description
Church Lodge, along with a pair of gates and piers located 4 metres to the west, dates from around 1814. The lodge is built from gault brick with ashlar dressings, featuring a wood and wrought iron porch and a grey slate roof, all designed in a Gothick style. It is a single-storey structure with three bays, including a central single bay flanked by projecting wings at angles, and a rear range.
There is a stone step leading to the central recessed pointed five-panel door, which is set under an arched lintel made of painted brick and is complemented by an original decorative trellis porch with canted sides and battlements. Each wing contains one pointed sash window with intersecting glazing bars at the head, and similar windows are located at the ends of the wings. The lodge is topped with ashlar battlements and has a hipped roof with a central stack. The interior has not been inspected. The decorative wrought iron gates and ashlar piers are identical to those found at the Coach House.
