Description

This windmill, located at the rear of No. 17 in Kirkbymoorside, was built in 1839, as indicated by a datestone, and has been re-roofed since its construction. It is made of red brick in English garden wall bond and features a slate roof. The structure is circular in plan, tapering from an internal diameter of 6 metres at the base to 3.4 metres at the top. It stands five storeys tall, with two windows on each floor. The ground floor has opposing plank doors, while the upper floors feature opposing 9-pane pivot windows with iron glazing bars, arranged to face north-south and east-west on alternate floors. All openings are topped with cambered brick arches, and the roof has been replaced with a pitched design.
