Description

No 3 West End is a house from the early 18th century, with earlier origins, that has undergone heightening and alterations. It features a cruck-framed structure, which is cased in rendered sandstone, and has a pantile roof with brick stacks. The building has a two-cell, end passage plan and is 1½ stories tall with a two-window front.

The entrance is a six-panel door located to the right, set under a heavy lintel. There is a disused 20th-century door to the left end and a 20th-century bow window with glazing bars to the left of the center. To the right, there is a two-light small-paned horizontal sliding sash window, while the upper floor has two additional two-light small-paned horizontal sliding sash windows. The steeply-pitched roof has a single central stack.

Inside, the feet of one pair of crucks are visible in the end passage wall, which is said to be truncated higher up. It is also noted that there may be a second pair of crucks in the tile cross wall between the two rooms.
