Description
The stables, located approximately 200 metres to the west of Aldburgh Hall, date from the late 18th century. They are constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and feature a graduated stone slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan.
The west front consists of six bays, with the central two bays projecting forward and rising to two storeys, while the outer bays are single storey. The outer bays include round-arched doorways with board doors and fanlights, while bay five has a round-arched window. Bays two, three, and four contain round-arched carriage doorways, also with board doors and fanlights, all featuring keystones. There is an impost and a first-floor band present.
The structure has two unequally-hung 15-pane sash windows with keyed lintels and projecting sills. The central bays are topped with a pyramidal roof that has an end stack on the right, while the left-hand bays have a roof hipped to the left.
To the north, there is a projecting wing that is two storeys high and consists of five bays. The ground floor features round-arched openings with fanlights and keystones, with board doors between bays one and two, two and three, and four and five. There are also 6-pane sash windows. The first floor has unequally-hung 9-pane sashes with sills, and the roof is hipped.
