Description
The stables at Leuchie, dated 1859, are a single-storey stable block with an attic or haylofts above gabled bays. The building is constructed from squared and snecked pink sandstone, featuring stugged ashlar dressings with droved borders. The openings and front elevation have chamfered arrises, and there is a cobble-effect forecourt.
The south (front) elevation is almost symmetrical, with gabled bays at the centre and outer ends that break the eaves, the latter being advanced. The central segmental arch is blocked with a modern house door and flanked by a window, with an attic window above and a dated panel in the gable head, topped with a wrought-iron finial. There are two window bays to the left and three to the right. The large carriage doors are located in the advanced outer bays, with hayloft openings above.
On the north (rear) elevation, there is an advanced gabled bay at the centre, featuring a bipartite window at ground level and a single window above. The flanking bays have irregular openings, with gabled outer bays that include a hayloft door in the right bay.
The sash and case windows have a small-pane glazing pattern, and the building is topped with a slate roof and ashlar coped skews.
