Description
Middle Cottage, part of Farm Cottages at Redside, dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century, with some alterations to the openings made in the late 19th century. This single-storey row originally consisted of 10 cottages but now has 7, with some former doorways blocked. The building is constructed of random purple rubble with droved cream ashlar dressings.
On the southeast elevation, the openings are now irregular, featuring some timber mullioned bipartite windows. The east and west gables are blank, and there are irregular and altered openings on the north side due to rising ground. The windows include 12-pane and 4-pane glazing patterns in sash and case style. The structure has ashlar coped skews and regular, original ridge and end stacks, topped with pantiles.
