Description
Nos 4 and 5 Cornforth Hill are a pair of 18th-century cottages. They are constructed from coursed rubble with a Welsh slate roof and feature thin, handmade brick chimneys.
The cottages are roughly symmetrical, each with a single bay and two storeys, and their front doors are positioned in the centre. There is a slight difference in the stonework between the two, with the right-hand cottage (Number 4) having a higher eaves line and a shallower roof pitch. The windows are two-over-two sashes set in openings that have projecting stone frames with monolithic jambs, sills, and lintels. However, the ground floor window of Number 4 has been replaced with a modern projecting box bay window featuring a two-over-two sash. The doorways have modern part-glazed doors beneath flat arches made of voussoirs, with the door to Number 5 constructed from handmade brick. Each cottage has a gable-end chimney stack adjacent to the neighbouring property.
