Description
No 8 Cornforth Hill is a house, previously divided into cottages, dating from the 18th century, and possibly earlier. The building is constructed of roughly coursed stone with a pantile roof and brick stacks.
The main elevation faces north and features three wide bays across two storeys. The front door is located between the eastern two bays, with a small inserted window to its right. The door is vertically boarded and set beneath a brick flat arch. Each bay has a large window on both floors, also with brick flat arches and projecting sills. The central ground floor window was previously narrower and now has a reconstituted stone lintel beneath a residual brick arch. The joinery for these large windows consists of modern Yorkshire horizontal sliding sashes, each with three lights of six panes, while the flanking lights are fixed. The gables are raised and coped, featuring brick end stacks.
