Description

No. 7 Cornforth Hill is an 18th-century house constructed from roughly coursed stone rubble, topped with a graduated stone slate roof and featuring brick chimneys. The main elevation faces south and consists of two bays and three stories, with the stonework and roofline aligning with the adjacent property, No. 6. The house is situated on a hill, causing the window openings on the left bay to be positioned lower than those on the right.

The front door is located in the right bay, aligned with the windows above, and features a 20th-century half-glazed door with a rectangular overlight, all framed by a finely carved stone doorcase with a shouldered architrave, an ornamented frieze, and a cornice. The ground floor window, located in the left bay and slightly offset, is a canted bay window supported by reeded pilasters and topped with a plain frieze and cornice on its flat roof. This window is an eight-over-eight hornless sash. The two upper floors have windows with projecting sills and rubbed-brick flat arches. The first-floor windows are eight-over-eight sashes, while the second-floor windows are similar but shorter, featuring half-height upper sashes. The west gable is quoined, raised, and coped, with a shaped kneeler and a ridge stack, along with a second ridge stack positioned between the two bays.
