Description
This is an 18th-century house located on the north side of Cornforth Hill. The main south-facing elevation is a single bay and three stories high, constructed from roughly coursed stone rubble. It shares a continuous stonework and roofline with the adjacent properties to the west (Number 7) and butts up against the property to the east (Number 5).
A canted bay window occupies the ground floor, featuring reeded pilasters supporting a plain frieze with a corniced flat roof. The window itself is an eight-over-eight hornless sash. A modern front door is positioned to the left (west) of the bay window, set in a plain opening with a stone lintel over a rectangular overlight. The upper floor windows are hornless sashes with projecting sills and rubbed-brick flat arches. The first floor has an eight-over-eight sash, while the second floor window is similar but with a half-height upper sash. A hand-made brick chimney is situated on the east gable and abuts the chimney of the neighbouring cottage. The roof is covered in graduated stone slate.
