Description
1 Cornforth Hill is an 18th-century house constructed of coursed squared stone with a graduated stone slate roof and chimneys made of hand-made brick. The building has three stories and two bays, with end stacks. The south-facing frontage features quoining on the right side, while the left side is only quoined at the top floor, indicating that the adjacent property was likely built first.
On the ground floor, there are two inserted openings: a small window on the right and a garage doorway on the left. The upper two floors are symmetrical and retain 18th-century openings with plain stone frames that include monolithic jambs, lintels, and sills. The first-floor windows have eight-over-eight pane sashes, while the second floor features a Venetian window with a central blind semi-circular headed light, flanked by two square lights containing eight-over-eight pane sashes. The gables are raised and coped, with the right (east) gable displaying a shaped kneeler. The main entrance is located on the east gable, which is otherwise blind.
