Description

Lumley Cottage is a house, likely dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone with a fairly high-pitched pantiled roof, stone copings, shaped kneelers, and brick end chimneys. The two-storey, two-bay building has wide proportions. Originally, the ground floor had stone-mullioned windows, but these have been replaced with 20th-century small-paned casements. A single fixed light remains in one original opening on the left side. The first-floor windows have been heightened to break the eaves, and dormers have been added. A roll-moulded door head sits above the boarded door, which is set within a wooden architrave. Internally, remnants of a large fireplace remain, alongside exposed beams and small cupboards. A wooden partition, possibly from the 18th century, is present, concealing a staircase.
