Description

NUMBER 1 AND 2 BARRACK YARD is a row of three cottages, now combined into two dwellings, constructed in the mid-18th century. The exterior is rendered brick with a pantile roof. The two-storey building has three bays. The ground floor features a four-panel door, a window, a doorway that has been converted into a window, another window, a four-panel door, and a final window. Each ground-floor opening has a slightly cambered head. All windows are 12-pane side-sliding sashes. An eaves cornice runs along the top of the building, with raised verges. Three chimney stacks, designed as table-like features, rise from the ridge of the roof, each serving a fireplace in the living room of a separate cottage. The left and right returns of the building are unrendered, revealing tumbled brickwork in the gables.
