Description

This is a mid-19th century mile post located between Plumpbank Farm and the road to Felix Kirk. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring relief lettering in black. The mile post has a triangular shape, although the upper left corner is broken off. The inscriptions include "NRYCC" on the upper face, "THIRSK 1" on the east face, and "HELMSLEY 13" on the west face. It was manufactured locally at the Norby foundry.
