Description

Halton Bridge is a road bridge built in the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and around 1850. The bridge is constructed of ashlar stone and originally featured three spans over the river, although the left-hand arch is now part of a field on the north bank. There are two smaller segmental arches for livestock on the north bank. The bridge includes three cutwaters with triangular caps and ten pilasters. A string course runs along the base of the parapet, which has coping. There are ten bollards on either side of the roadway that correspond with the pilasters.
