Description
Gyll Hall is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of rubblestone with rendered surfaces and features ashlar dressings. The roof is made of pantiles, with two rows of stone slates at the eaves level. The building has two storeys plus attics and consists of four bays, with the outer bays projecting forward and topped with gables.
The entrance is a lobby-entry plan, featuring a 20th-century half-glazed door located in the left-hand centre bay. To the right of this door is a small opening, followed by a four-light chamfered mullioned window. The left-hand bay contains a four-light mullioned window, while the right-hand bay has a 20th-century French window set within part of the original surround.
A moulded string course runs along the first floor. The outer bays on this level have three-light chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, while the window in the third bay is similar but features wooden mullions. To the left of this bay is a one-light chamfered window. The outer bays also have two-light chamfered mullioned windows with hoodmoulds above the gables, which are topped with stone coping.
The building has a large external stack on the left return, an end stack on the right, and one ridge stack. At the rear, there is a gabled stair tower.
