Description

Rudd Hall is a country house that may date back to the late 17th century, although it has been significantly altered and extended in the early to mid-19th century. The building is rendered and has a stone slate roof, featuring an L-shaped plan with two storeys.

The south elevation of the older range consists of five bays. In the center, there is a part-glazed door framed by a sandstone ashlar architrave, which includes a fluted frieze and a cornice supported by consoles. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are fitted with flush wood architraves, stone sills, and wedge lintels that are scored to resemble flat arches. Notably, the windows in the second and fourth bays on the first floor are blind, with corniced stacks positioned above them. The roof is hipped.

On the west elevation, there are two bays, followed by one bay, and then two more bays, with a blank end wall of the south range to the right. The fifth bay features a part-glazed door in an architrave similar to that on the south elevation. In the center, there is a two-storey canted bay, and the sash windows are consistent with those on the south elevation. The roof is hipped to the left, and there is a corniced stack located between the second and third bays. The house is named after an 18th-century tenant called Rudd.
