Description

Wighill Lane Farmhouse is an early to mid-18th century farmhouse and farmworkers' dwelling, with 19th-century additions and alterations. It is constructed of pinkish-brown brick, with a red brick outshut and a pantile and stone slate roof. The building follows a lobby-entry plan, with an outshut and 19th-century wing to the rear. The main farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows on the first floor. The front door, a four-panel design, is situated between the first and second windows and is sheltered by a blocked elliptical arch. Original four-pane sash windows are found throughout. A two-course band runs along the first floor. End and ridge stacks provide ventilation. The adjoining farmworkers' dwelling is two storeys high and has two windows on the first floor. The ground floor has doors below each window with a 20th-century casement window between; all are set within elliptical arches. Multi-pane casements are present on the first floor. This section also has end stacks.
