Description
Town Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, possibly constructed in two phases. It is built of rubble sandstone with some ashlar dressings and features pantile and Welsh slate roofs. The building has two storeys and a rear outshut, with a layout of 1:3 bays.
The main part of the house, located on the right, is constructed from coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. It has chamfered rusticated quoins and a central three-panel door topped by a three-pane overlight, all set within a raised ashlar surround. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, also framed in raised ashlar surrounds. The roof features shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, with corniced ashlar stacks at the ends.
To the left is a lesser range that is set back slightly and has a slightly lower eaves level. This section includes a four-pane sash window with a deep lintel and a first-floor side-sliding sash. It also has a shaped kneeler, ashlar coping, and an ashlar end stack to the left, with a pantile roof that has stone slates at the eaves. At the junction of the two ranges, there is a quoined single-storey lean-to porch with a small window and a boarded door on the left return.
