Description
This is a dovecote located approximately 20 metres to the north-east of Church Cliff Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century and was likely reroofed in the 19th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble limestone and features a slate roof with a timber glover. It has a square plan and is divided into two stages by a raised chamfered band on a chamfered plinth. The dovecote has irregular quoins and a low doorway on the west side, which is topped with a chamfered lintel and has chamfered, irregular quoined jambs. There is a horizontal opening with a landing platform high in the south wall, and the roof is hipped. Inside, all four walls are lined from floor to ceiling with nesting boxes and landing platforms.
