Description

These are a pair of houses located in Middleham, said to date from 1719 according to the Victoria County History. The houses are constructed of rubble and have a stone slate roof. They are three storeys high, with two first-floor windows in each house. In the centre of the pair, there are two 20th-century part-glazed doors set within ashlar surrounds, which are sheltered by a relieving arch made of rubble voussoirs. To the left of the central entrance is a 20th-century bow window on the ground floor and a 20th-century casement window on the first floor. To the right are three-light chamfered mullion windows on both the ground and first floors, with a single two-light chamfered mullion window on the second floor. The roof features shaped kneelers, ashlar copings, and end stacks, with a brick stack on the right-hand side. The rear elevation has two chamfered stone-surround windows.
