Description

Manor House and railings. Dated 1777 on a rainwater head at the rear, with the remainder of the house built slightly later. The house is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a stone slate roof. Wrought-iron railings run in front. The house is three storeys high, with a 3:2 bay arrangement, demonstrating two distinct building phases. The left-hand half features a plinth and rusticated quoins. On all floors, sash windows have moulded, eared, and shouldered surrounds; half-size windows are on the second floor, and a sill band runs along the ground floor. A cavetto cornice tops the facade. The right-hand half has rusticated quoins on the right side, and a part-glazed door within a round-arched ashlar surround with impost blocks and a tripartite keystone. Windows on the ground floor include a narrow window and a Venetian window; the first floor has a single sash window and a tripartite window; and the second floor has a Diocletian window. A large, square dentilled cornice runs around the top of the building. Shaped kneelers and ashlar copings are present overall, with stacks at the ends and between bays three and four. The house was undergoing re-roofing at the time of the survey. Simple wrought-iron railings with urn finials on standards stand in front of the house.
