Description

This milepost, located approximately 170 metres east of the drive to Whitestone Gardens, dates from the late 19th century and was created for the North Riding County Council Highways Department. It is made of cast iron and features a triangular-sectioned hollow-backed design with a sloping top plate. The raised letters on the top read "NRYCC," while the left face indicates "THIRSK/4" and the right face shows "HELMSLEY/10."
