Description

The building at 4-9 Birdgate is a late 18th-century terrace of properties. It is constructed of brick and painted brick, with a pantile roof and three brick stacks. The building has three storeys and originally had six windows. The windows now contain a mix of new glazing and casements, most with keystones. A brick band runs along the first and top floors. Rusticated quoins define the blocks of the facade. A 19th-century bow window has been added to the first floor. The ground floor features a continuous moulded and dentil cornice above three 19th-century shop fronts. Nos 1 to 9, together with number 12, form a group with Nos 14 to 19.
