Description

Richmond House is a mid-to-late 18th-century house located on the north side of Waterside in Knaresborough. The building is constructed of red brick in both Flemish and random bond patterns, with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays. The front features a limestone plinth and a set of two steps with an iron handrail leading to a central six-panel door, which is within a flush wood architrave and topped with a fanlight. The windows are sash windows with glazing bars, set within flush wood architraves. Brick lintels with projecting keystones are above each window. A modillioned eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. There are end chimney stacks, one of which is rendered; the left-hand stack protrudes into the adjacent building, previously a dyehouse.
