Description
22 Finkle Street is a gallery and shop built around 1863 and restored around 1980. The building is constructed of brick in English bond with ashlar dressings and has a Westmorland slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features four first-floor windows.
On the ground floor, there are paired central windows that contain a glazed door on the left, with flanking full-length windows also featuring 20th-century plate glass. All these windows have ashlar long and short quoins and shouldered arches. The first floor has pointed-arch windows with 20th-century sashes, with a central pair separated by a stone mullion. These windows have hood-moulds with damaged stops. The building has paired gutter brackets and end stacks.
Historically, this building served as a billiard hall and has also been used as a club. Before the restoration, the ground floor was rendered, obscuring all but the left window, which was used as a door.
