Description

Nidd View Cottage is a late 18th-century house, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The house is constructed of brick in a Flemish bond pattern and limestone, with a pantile roof. It is two storeys high at the front, but four storeys high at the rear, and has two first-floor windows and one blind window. A stone plinth and quoins are visible on the right side of the front facade. A 20th-century glazed door is located on the left side; a four-panel door with a large gritstone lintel provides access to the passage on the right. Sixteen-pane sash windows are present on both the ground and first floors, and these have 20th-century shutters. A ridge stack is situated on the right side of the roof. The rear of the house is limestone and features openings with keyed lintels, with relatively little later alteration. The interior features two storeys below street level, which are partly rock-cut.
