Description
No 20 with carriage arch to the right is a house and carriage arch dating from the mid 18th century, with a restoration in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a Westmorland slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays. It features a limestone plinth and quoins.
On the left side, there are four stone steps leading to a recessed six-panel door, which is topped with an overlight. The door is framed by panelled reveals and supported by Doric pilasters that hold up an entablature and cornice. To the right, there is a three-light bow window with sashes on the ground and first floors. On the first floor to the left, there is a sash window with glazing bars in a flush wood architrave, set under a segmental brick arch. The second floor has three six-light sashes with segmental brick arches and projecting sills. The building has end stacks.
The carriage arch on the right features a segmental brick arch, with a sash window containing glazing bars in a flush wood architrave positioned above it.
