Description
Nos 148 and 149 on Church Street are buildings from 1811, although they may incorporate materials from a chapel that was served from the Parish Church before the Reformation, when the chapel was closed. The buildings are three storeys tall with attics and have a gabled roof facing the road. The elevation facing Church Street has been refaced in Ruabon brick and features four windows with segmental heads—three on the second floor and one on the top floor. There are two 19th-century shopfronts with modern glass. The side elevation facing the Market Place is partly rendered and includes windows and doors on the ground floor. The gable end is mostly obscured by Nos 6 and 7 Market Place, which are separately listed at Grade II and are built onto Nos 148 and 149, revealing only two small windows. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 119 to 123A, the Board Inn, and Nos 126 to 157 on Church Street.
