Description
Old Hall is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features seven uneven bays. There is a 20th-century glazed door and porch located between the third and fourth bays, with a gap in the fenestration above. The house has a plinth and glazing bar sashes set in flush wood architraves throughout. A projecting band runs along the first floor, and there is a large multiple-flue ridge stack situated between the fourth and fifth bays, with a smaller stack to the left.
At the rear, there are remnants of recessed chamfered mullioned windows with two and four lights, as well as a stair window with interlaced glazing bars on the first floor to the right. An attached barn is noted but is not of special interest. The interior was not inspected during the resurvey. Old Hall is a large and significant house; the front facade's fenestration is asymmetrical, and the current entrance does not align with the main stack. These characteristics, along with the survival of early mullioned windows at the rear and the nearby early outbuilding, indicate a long and complex history of the building.
