Description

The bridge over the River Nidd at Ribston Lodge was built in 1855 for Mr. Joseph Dent. It is constructed from squared rock-faced sandstone blocks and gritstone. The bridge features a large central round arch, which is flanked by two smaller side arches. Triangular cut-waters are present, and the rock-faced voussoirs add to its architectural detail. The parapet is adorned with heavy squared and chamfered balusters, along with a central cast-iron date plaque. The pointed parapet is capped with pyramidal blocks over the piers that flank the central arch. The western portion of the bridge is located in Little Ribston Parish, while the remainder is in Great Ribston with Walshford.
