Description
The rustic footbridge located in the gardens to the north of Ribston Hall is a 19th-century structure. It spans a sunken pathway that leads from the south side of a depression or quarry pit. Constructed from sandstone rubble, the bridge features a single-span pointed arch made of flat voussoirs, giving it the appearance of dry-stone walling above. There is no parapet on the bridge. It serves a purely decorative purpose and does not connect to any existing pathway. The grounds surrounding the bridge were laid out as a Pinetum after 1857 by Mr. Joseph Dent, although they may have been landscaped prior to that date. Currently, the structure is heavily overgrown.
