Description
The bridge over the River Nidd at Ribston Lodge was built in 1855 for Mr. Joseph Dent. It is constructed from squared rock-faced sandstone blocks and gritstone. The bridge features a large central round arch flanked by two smaller side arches, with triangular cut-waters and rock-faced voussoirs. The parapet has heavy squared and chamfered balusters, along with a central cast-iron date plaque. The pointed parapet is topped with pyramidal blocks over the bridge piers and at the center. While only the eastern portion of the bridge is located in Great Ribston parish, the remainder is in Little Ribston parish, along with the lodges, gate-piers, and gates.
