Description
Crimple Bridge spans the River Crimple and is located on the parish boundary with North Deighton. It was built in the mid to late 18th century and was widened and rebuilt on the east side in the 19th to 20th centuries. The bridge is constructed of coursed squared sandy gritstone.
On the upstream (west) side, there are two segmental arches; the river now flows through the right-hand arch, while the left arch has become silted up. A cutwater rises as a pilaster to support the slightly projecting coping of the parapet. There are additional pilasters flanking the arches and spaced along the parapet, totaling seven. A projecting band runs at road level.
The downstream face features a single main arch with recessed voussoirs, a smaller dry arch, and three pilasters. The parapet includes a metal plaque indicating the parish boundary, marked as RIBSTON - NORTH LITTLE DEIGHTON.
