Description
This mile-post, located approximately 400 metres west of the turning to Bilton, dates from the late 19th century. It features a cast-iron face mounted on a gritstone support. The mile-post is triangular in section with a rounded top and stands about 80 centimetres tall. The inscriptions on the rounded top read "Collingham and York Road / Bilton." The left face indicates distances to Wetherby (4½ miles), Collingham (6½ miles), and Leeds (17 miles), while the right face shows the distance to York (9 miles). The front plate is secured to the support with square-headed bolts.
